Computer stuff

Ever since I switched to Linux I've been quite content with my hardware. It has also been a while since I've played other games than Sopwith on my PC. There have been only a few upgrades in the last four years. My desktop computer is a PIII that runs Kubuntu. My Lifebook B-2154 has Debian GNU/Linux installed. I also have a MacBook.

Search term highlighting

I wrote a fairly simple Javascript code that highlights the search terms if someone is visiting your page from Google or a few other search engines. Copy searchhighlight.js and add the following to your page for this to work.
<script src="searchhighlight.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

Heart rate monitor

I did some experiments communicating with a Polar F55 HRM in Linux and trying to understand the used protocol. The information remains even though I updated to RS400 which stores the heart rate values to memory. I record most of my activities like the image below.

Trips

See my heart rate data and trips (in Finnish). Below is the route for one of my bicycling trips.

Drawings

Most of my drawings can be seen on my flickr page.

Game of Y

A printable bent game board for the game of Y, a close relative to the game of Hex. The board was modeled as point masses connected by springs in two dimensions, initialized as concentric circles for fast and guaranteed convergence. The resulting ODEs were solved in the Matlab programming language (code). The board is also in SVG, EPS and PDF formats.

Arabic alphabet

I wrote a small application in AS3 for learning the pronunciation of the Arabic alphabet.

Books for sale

I put up a bookshelf for the books I'm trying to get rid of.
