Ratioale

The mission of this web page is to create and expand a coherent and strong web presence in the rapidly growing Internet environment by offering tailored, cost-effective, high-tech solutions and consulting services to customers who want to live on the bleeding edge.

The objective is to become the most prominent player in the global market. This superiority is achieved through persistent investment in intellectual capital, quick identification and adaptation of industry's best-practice methods, careful screening of first-class partners, customer oriented product development, streamlined sales network, youthful and dynamic organisation, energetic corporate culture, distinguished management and total commitment to our demanding customers.

Blah, blah, blaa... Now, to the point.

Why?

This site exists for several reasons:

  • I wanted to play with HTML and learn something in the process.
  • I needed a "bookmarks" list not tied to any particular computer.
  • I required a place to show off some applets.
  • I just had to replace my old pages.

How?

This site is created in Unix/Linux environment. The HTML compiler is implemented in Sun Microsystem's Java programming language. The Java source code, the HTML sources and just about everything else is written with the ultimate text editor GNU Emacs. No Windows - no problems.

The primary design goals were to:

  • write HTML that complies (almost...) the standards.
  • use HTML to do the things it was originally designed for.
  • give the visitor a chance to specify the layout of the pages.
  • maintain compatibility with text-only browsers.
  • do as much as possible at the server level (except MicroSoft FrontPage Extensions).

...and to:

  • dismiss any piece of unstable and erratic software in any stage of the process.
  • keep away from commercial applications whenever possible.
  • come along without browser specific solutions (especially ActiveX).
  • avoid any commercialization and sales promotion in any form - banners, popup windows, etc.
  • to do without colors, animated gifs, huge graphics without content, high-contrast background images, web counters, music, WArez, etc.

What?

I tried to make this site as ascetic, but yet aesthetic, as possible. I also tried to put some structure in the hypertext, which resembles a stream of consciousness in its purest form, to make it more digestible.
