Alan Taylor:This is an interesting debut from a Finnish
guitar group displaying many influences. The opener, for example, has a
damped reverb backing guitar plus a chunky rhythm and a clean ringing lead
that gives way to a modern sustained tone for the finale. All of the material
is original and much of it has a unique Euro/USA blend. Examples of this are Vaaralahti
with its surfin' flavour, Leonardo with a Western twang and Ajelen
which comes over as an early Ventures piece only with modem guitar sounds.
Shadows influences are most apparent on the melodic Dallas Sallad but
TyrskyKitarat cannot be pigeon-holed, they have their own sound and stvle.
I'd prefer a little more feel on the drum tracks which don't propel
guitarists as they might, but then I'm a fuzzy bugger. If you're open to
something '60s based, different, but not too much so, then this is a bargain
you shouldn't miss. The price of only US$10 / |
