'Mech Composition

The Kungsarme currently consists of alltogether 4 'mech regiments. The original weight classifications have lost meaning to some degree, as the lightest/worst 'mechs have been lost to the Clans. The Drak0ns were intended to be heavy units and their composition currently is that of a heavy/assault unit. The Freemen were medium and continue to be so with a few scattered heavies and lights. The Husars and Kavalleri were light units, but only the Kavalleri remains so. The Husars are now a medium/heavy unit.

FRR has adopted the practise of reinforcing companies as a standard (Ie. Every company is added another lance, mainly for fire-support) This gives them a perhaps decisive edge against the Clans. Many of the regiments rely heavily on combined-arms support along the lines of the FedCom RCTs.

The 'mech quality tends to be high in FRR, but they lack the newest grade of technology. The regiments are mainly composed of field upgraded old designs with only a scattering of the new designs. Some Clan mechs have been salvaged either in parts or as whole 'mechs, but these remain a worshipped prize. Comstar has also sold some of their old Star League designs to FRR in helping them rebuild. This makes Kungsarme tech level pretty high, but almost half of their 'mechs show damage or atleast marks of recent fighting.

Also, the variety of different mech types used in the Kungsarme is nothing short of staggering, you can see mechs which has often been regarded as namesakes of a state. Namely Steiner and Kurita mechs can be seen fighting side by side, this new situation has led them to develope new tactics, since this is first time such resources have been grouped together on battlefield instead of simulation. As an added bonus the trade deals with other Inner Sphere states and ComStar have diversified the arsenal even further.

The lack of an 'Mech factory of its own has forced FRR to make contracts with various governments. Foremost of them being Steiner and Kurita. Some trading with Marik has also commenced.

The Tank Regiments of the Kungsarme continue to draw their units from the Aldis factories in Terra. Most of the infantry regiments have gone guerilla and are in desperate need of equipment and training. This has done nothing the quell their fanaticism or will to fight however. Their suicidal tactics often counter their lack of training, but what they could do if they were trained properly may only be speculated.

The mech units in the FRR are rather different from the rest of the inner sphere. This spawns from the fact that Kungsarme was trained and by partially also copied from the military doctrines of the Steiner military and Drakonis Combine Mustered Soldiery.

While Steiner believe in reinforcing the RCT mech units with full complement of support, also new Combine strategy of reinforcing the mech units to unusual strenghts (as per the rumored Ghost Regiments) was applied

Inner sphere units normally use companies of three lances, but in Rasalhague a company has four lances. Also the fire support lances are unusually strong, often having five, even six mechs.

Also aerospace lances differ from what is the norm in the Successor States, putting four fighters to a lance instead of two, bringing the strength of the fighter complement in a regiment to a formidabble 108 fighters.

A full Rasalhague Kungsarme Unit sizing one regiment therefore is composed of:

Sources: Lethal Heritage and Scenario 'More tales of Black Widow'
1 mech regiment; 144 mechs (muse: 18 mechs)
3 vehicle regiments;xx vehicles (muse: 36 vehicles)
2 aero wings; 108 fighters (muse: -)
+ infantry units and support elements varying in size.

Also each unit supports its own Dropship transport.

Hence a full strength Rasalhague unit would be quite fearsome combat unit capable of surviving on its own without outside support for a long time, unfortunately at the moment the units of FRR are in the phase of rebuilding, many units being but a half or even less from the intended strength.
